“With this album it became clear we wanted to make an album in a classical sense even if it’s the last one we make… We feel like this is a goodbye to the traditional album format. In our consecutive run of albums, we have been able to say what we want to say and do what we want to do with the LP. We’re not going to stop making music, but the album format as such, this is the last thing from us.”
Con questa frase lo storico duo norvegese Royksopp, punto di riferimento della scena trip-hop, danno l’addio al format dell’LP annunciando ufficialmente l’uscita del loro ultimo album “The Inevitable End”, in uscita a Novembre per Interscope.
Archiviato “Do It Again”, lavoro uscito in collaborazione con la singer anch’essa nordeuropea Robyn (per la precisione svedese), gli autori di vere perle della musica elettronica di fine millennio (due su tutte, la hit “Poor Leno” e la storica “Eple”) si apprestano quindi a pubblicare il loro ultimo LP a distanza di quasi 5 anni dall’accoppiata “Junior” e “Senior”, ultimi album interamente composti esclusivamente dal duo.
Attenzione però, “The Inevitable End” non sancirà lo scioglimento del duo: stando infatti alle dichiarazioni rilasciate a Pitchfork i Royksopp, complice infatti una tendenza del tutto nuova verso sonorità più cupe rispetto alla precedente discografia (cosa che vi avevamo raccontato descrivendovi “Do It Again”), si concentreranno più ad altre forme d’espressione musicale, più “discrete”, come l’EP e le collaborazioni esterne, vero collante dell’intera discografia “Royksoppiana” e leitmotiv presente anche in quest’ultimo LP, ricolmo di collaborazioni sopratutto vocali.
“The Inevitable End” uscirà ufficialmente l’11 Novembre: in attesa della release date, vi facciamo sentire il primo estratto “Skull” e vi mostriamo tracklist e artwork. #enjoythebar!
