La stavamo attendendo da tempo e finalmente la notizia è arrivata: Gold Panda ha annunciato l’uscita di un nuovo LP.
DATA 23/02/2026 | Il produttore inglese ha da poco dichiarato l’uscita di un nuovo LP che si intitolerà Good Luck And Do Your Best, sarà pubblicato su City Slang e l’uscita è prevista per il 27 maggio e sarà mixato insieme ad un “assistente” d’eccezione: Luke Abbott.
Questo nuovo album arriva dopo quasi tre anni dalla pubblicazione di Half Of Where You Live e, stando alle dichiarazioni dell’artista, i lavori di composizione sono cominciati nel 2014 quando il produttore insieme alla fotografa Laura Lewis ha intrapreso l’ennesimo viaggio in Giappone dove Derwin Schlecker (vero nome di Gold Panda) ha trovato ancora una volta ispirazione per un nuovo lavoro.
Questo annuncio è arrivato insieme ad un videoclip diretto da Ronni Shendar basato sul nuovo singolo che lancia Good Luck And Do Your Best e ci fa capire quali saranno le intenzioni e i suoni del nuovo lavoro di Derwin.
Gold Panda tramite la pagina Facebook ha annunciato cosi il nuovo album:
“Hello! Last year, Laura Lewis Photography and I were traveling around Japan, photographing and making field recordings. One day, as we got out of a taxi in Hiroshima, the taxi driver’s parting words to us, in English, were ‘good luck and do your best’! The phrase stuck with me and ended up becoming the title for my new record, which is coming out in May.
The record was made at home in Essex mainly on my MPC2000xl and mixed by my friend Luke Abbott in Norwich while eating banana bread and drinking tea.
The first song from Good Luck And Do Your Best is out today. It’s called Time Eater - here’s the video, made by Ronni Shendar.”
Ma le sorprese non finiscono qui, oltre ad aver annunciato il nuovo album, sono state rese note le prime date del tour e per fortuna toccherà anche l’Italia. Infatti, notizia nella notizia, Gold Panda è il primo nome svelato dal festival Spring Attitude che si terrà a Roma. La data in questione è quella del 19 maggio e il concerto si terrà al Maxxi Museum. La seconda data italiana resa pubblica dal management è quella dell’ 8 luglio in quel del Circolo Magnolia a Milano.
UPDATE 30/03/2026 | Secondo video e secondo estratto dal prossimo album in uscita il 27 maggio. Video diretto da Rob Brandon, in cui vede come protagonista lo stesso Derwin Schlecker e la nonna.
Gold Panda ha dichiarato riguardo al video:
“I asked Rob to just come and film us (my gran and I) being boring. But now, when I watch it back, it doesn’t seem mundane at all. It seems actually really nice and sweet. I was thinking about all this cool stuff we could do, slow-mo shots, what outfit I could wear, maybe an explosion and who could be in my crew. But real life is exciting enough; you just don’t see it when you’re in it.”
